Marc Márquez has officially been cleared to return to MotoGP action after weeks on the sidelines, giving Ducati a major boost ahead of this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix at Mugello.
The six-time MotoGP world champion had missed recent races following a heavy crash during the French Grand Prix sprint at Le Mans earlier this month.
The accident left Márquez with a fractured fifth metatarsal in his foot, while also aggravating long-term shoulder complications linked to previous injuries.
Following the crash, Márquez underwent double surgery in Madrid and was initially ruled out of both the French and Catalan Grand Prix weekends as Ducati prioritised his recovery.
However, after undergoing fresh medical checks this week, MotoGP officials confirmed the Spaniard had been given clearance to return to the paddock and participate in practice sessions at Mugello.
Speaking ahead of his return, Márquez admitted the recovery process had been physically and mentally draining.
“My mentality is to rebuild my future,” he said after receiving medical approval to race again.
He also acknowledged that he is not expecting an immediate title challenge as he works his way back to full fitness.
“I need time before getting back into the title fight,” Márquez added.

Reports surrounding his recovery also revealed that lingering shoulder pain had been affecting him for months before the crash.
According to Spanish media, a screw from a previous surgery had reportedly been pressing against a nerve, contributing to discomfort while riding.
Despite the uncertainty around his physical condition, Márquez’s return immediately changes the atmosphere around the Italian Grand Prix weekend.
