The Ladies European Tour’s Aramco Team Series 2022 has returned for its Round 3 of 5 in Sotogrande, Spain. After successful rounds in Bangkok and London, a star-studded field will compete individually and for their teams in Sotogrande Spain, from 18-20 August. Aramco Team Series 2022 Sotogrande: Format and Field
Aramco Team Series 2022 is only the 2nd edition of this newly formed golf series after the successful inaugural edition in 2021. The Ladies European Tour organizes the competition. It will feature five events this year – Round 1 in Bangkok, Round 2 in London, Round 3 in Sotogrande, Round 4 in New York, and Round 5 in Jeddah.
We are already down to Round 3 in Sotogrande, where 26 teams, 4 players a team, will compete in the team game tournament and individual tournament, for a $500,000 prize pool each tournament.
Format:
26 teams will be formed with 4 players per team, 3 pros and an amateur. The captains will be chosen for the teams based on their Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.
The 26th-ranked captain will first pick a pro for her team, and the picking will maintain a reverse order. After that, a third pro and an amateur will be assigned randomly for each team.
Every player will play for themselves and the score will also count for their teams. After the first two rounds (36 holes), there will be a cut of the top 60 pros and ties, who will play the final round (54-hole).
It will be a 36-hole game for the team tournament. The winning team will be announced after Round 2.
Field:
The Aramco Team Series 2022 in Sotogrande will feature a star-packed field. This year’s Bangkok-winning captain Whitney Hillier and London-winning captain Nicole Garcia will look to add another success in Sotogrande.
London’s individual winner Bronte Law will also team up with eyes on the individual title. The field will also include Bangkok individual winner Manon de Roey.
However, they will face difficult challenges in world no. 3 Nelly. Last year’s New York winning captain and the world no. 14 Jessica will also provide difficult competition.
American Alison Lee will return to defend her Sotogrande individual title from last year.
Purse and Prize Money Pool
A total of $5m purse will be up for grabs in the 5 events of the Aramco Team Series 2022. The Sotogrande Round will put a $1m prize pool on the line, with $500,000 for the team tournament and $500,000 for the individual tournament.
