Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali has expressed strong belief that Nigeria will rise to the occasion when they face South Africa in their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

Bafana Bafana currently top Group C of the CAF World Cup Qualifiers, leading Nigeria by 6 points, but Nwabali insisted that Nigeria have the quality and mentality to match any opponent.

The Chippa United shot-stopper underlined the importance of approaching the fixture without fear.

“I feel like we have a very strong squad capable of matching any country. I don’t see any team as too big for us, though we respect them because they are doing well, even topping the group.

“Tomorrow (Tuesday) will be a tough game, but I believe we will come out strong,” Nwabali said.

The 29-year-old also stressed that every game presents its own unique challenge.

He noted that while South Africa’s performances against other nations may offer some insight, clashes against Nigeria always bring a different level of intensity.

“Every game has its own plan. You might watch them play against Lesotho, Zimbabwe, or Rwanda, but when it comes to facing Nigeria, it’s always a different approach — just as it is for us when we play other countries.

“Like I said, it’s going to be a tough game tomorrow, but I really believe we’re going to win it,” he added.

Nigeria go into the encounter without star striker Victor Osimhen, who is sidelined through an injury.

Even so, the Super Eagles remain determined to claim all three points and strengthen their push for qualification.
